Australia’s communications regulator the ACMA has today joined Australia’s eSafety Commissioner to support Safer Internet Day, a global initiative to raise awareness of online safety issues.
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) says that this year on Safer Internet Day today, it is encouraging Australians to take “3 simple actions to help build online safety: connect, reflect, and protect”.
“Connect safely by keeping apps and devices secure and reviewing your privacy settings regularly. Reflect on how your actions online may affect others or your safety. Protect yourself and others by visiting eSafety.gov.au to find out how to stay safe online and report online abuse,” urges the ACMA.
The ACMA cautions that it’s important to take control of your online safety, and “raise awareness at home, school, work and in your community”.
“Remember, scammers target everyone and no one is too smart to be scammed. Take this opportunity to discuss how to identify scams with friends and family.
