
Open-source file syncing and sharing software company Nextcloud has announced the launch of Nextcloud Hub 7 which will feature unified search and phone integration.
In a statement, the company said the new release would also offer platform-wide out-of-office functionality and extends SIP integration to allow for dialling out to members in a video conference.

- Unified Search with a dedicated dialog which has filter options to find emails, documents, chat messages, calendar appointments, contacts, and external data like GitHub tickets or even GIFs.
- A cross-application out-of-office setting in chat, email, calendar and user status.
- Nextcloud Files has been rewritten in Vue.js, delivering accessibility and interface improvements.
- Photos can show iOS Live Photos, photo location, and camera settings.
- App distribution and deployment is improved for Docker-based apps, with support for apps written in other languages - Go, Python or Rust, etc - along with a new app store overhaul.
- Nextcloud AI Assistant adds support for the German LLM Aleph Alpha, and usage of AI integrations can now be limited by administrators.
- Nextcloud Talk introduces telephone dial-out to the existing dial-in capabilities, tracks video recording consent, and offers a "Note to self" chat.
Hub 7 also includes a tech preview of “Context Chat” for the Nextcloud Assistant, enabling a large language model to answer questions about users' own documents, chats and emails. This feature has been developed along with the German state of Schleswig-Holstein.
