Stack to build 220 MW hyperscale data centre campus in Malaysia

Data centres specialist Stack Infrastructure, has announced its entry into Malaysia, with plans to build a new 220MW campus for hyoerscale clients in Johor Bahru, which the company says will expand its footprint to the largest market in Southeast Asia.

According to Stack, Johor’s data centre market is a premier destination for hyperscalers, offering scalable power, strategic Southeast Asian connectivity, government-backed incentives, and competitive operating costs.

The 10.8 hectares Johor Bahru campus will feature two facilities totalling 1 million square feet, designed to support cloud and AI/ML workloads.

The campus is scheduled to go online in Q4 2026, and will be powered by Malaysian electricity utility TNB's (Tenaga Nasional Berhad) 275kV infrastructure, supported by an on-site substation.

“We are excited to bring STACK’s proven expertise to Malaysia’s rapidly growing data center market,” said Preet Gona, CEO, Stack APAC.

“As part of our continued expansion across APAC, our Johor Bahru campus strengthens our ability to meet clients’ strategic needs in both established and emerging Tier 1 markets, while fostering economic growth within the local community.”

The campus buildings will include a 120MW two-story data centre with a multi-level external electrical yard, as well as a second 100MW facility.

Both facilities will offer various deployment models including shell, build-to-suit, and turnkey solutions, and will be located in an established data centre park, 10 minutes from the Malaysia-Singapore border crossing.

The campus also features redundant points of entry and a fibre ring connectivity to multiple telco networks.

The entry into Malaysia continues Stack's Asia Pacific growth, adding to its presence in the key Tier 1 markets of Australia, Japan, and South Korea.
