Cynical tech enthusiast just about avoids being scammed

A technology enthusiast was initially puzzled when he and his wife received links that looked dodgy to click on in order to verify the credit cards the pair had taken from a particular provider.

The texts came a day after the couple received their cards in the mail. The texts correctly cited the first three digits of the cards which identifies the institution issuing the cards.

Given his tech background, this gent was suspicious. He checked and found that the website to which the check was being directed had been created only a few days earlier.

Curious as to what was going on, he decided to ask a known card fraudster for an explanation.

{loadposition sam08}This individual had a ready answer. "The leak is the post office employee. They can go down to actually opening and skimming the card and nicely placing it back."

The fraudster added: "Now only the PIN is missing and that's why they want you to click."

As with many other things in life, a little suspicion helps to avoid a catastrophe.
