Genetec announces Security Centre SaaS availability for unified access control, video security, intrusion control, and more

Genetec has been providing unified security solutions for over two decades - bringing all your door controls, video cameras, license plate recognition, and other physical security elements into one single interface. Its SaaS solution is now imminent and this makes the barrier to entry a no-brainer, allowing partners and customers to enroll in minutes.

Those who work with physical security products - door locks, swipe card systems, security cameras, and all kinds of related products - well know the pain of working with a wide range of disparate vendor-supplied software products, and the difficulties of searching across all these to correlate information on security events.

Genetec solved this pain with its remarkable single, unified platform that brings all these security products and other IoT systems into a single, manageable, searchable interface. While Genetec provided some SaaS functionality the product was largely an on-premises solution and thus required a server, storage, backups, and the usual suite of hardware. That's now changed with Genetec Security Centre SaaS, that iTWire announced earlier this year. In fact, not only can it help you do away with having to run your own server hardware and data centre, but it also means you can now set up Security Centre SaaS - either as an end-user customer or a channel partner on behalf of a customer - in absolutely minutes.

Naturally, there's still an on-premises element because, of course, your security cameras and all these physical security controls are on-premises. However, the brains of the operation can now be in the cloud and deployed rapidly. Yet, even so, Genetec has cleverly engineered Security Centre SaaS so you can have some on-premises servers too, if you so choose. You can seamlessly move specific workloads between the SaaS environment and the data centre without having to reconfigure any of your products.

A note on naming: here in Australia, iTWire likes to use Security Centre SaaS but it must be noted the official product name is the US English form Security Center SaaS.

“The physical security industry has been eagerly anticipating an enterprise-grade offering that can be implemented in the cloud or in a hybrid deployment based on customers’ needs and requirements. Security Centre SaaS not only fills this important gap in the market, but it redefines the possibilities for cloud-based physical security,” said Genetec VP global sales Michel Chalouhi.

Because of its open architecture, Security Centre SaaS gives organisations in Australia, New Zealand and globally the freedom to choose the door controllers, cameras, and devices that work best for their business. It also features powerful forensic search tools designed to simplify and speed up investigations. These tools extract crucial information from the rich metadata collected by the system's connected edge devices. The information is presented in a single, intuitive user interface, facilitating faster and more informed decision-making processes.

Security Centre SaaS features powerful and comprehensive systems management tools, making it easier and faster for channel partners to configure, provision, and deploy complex, multi-site enterprise systems at scale. From quote to delivery, Security Centre SaaS helps partners to efficiently manage and oversee all their Security Centre SaaS installations, no matter the size of the project.

In addition to an open portfolio of cameras by a range of manufacturers, Security Centre SaaS takes full advantage of the newly announced Axis Cloud Connect solution, and the existing Axis Powered by Genetec network door controller. Building on years of close collaboration with Axis, Security Centre SaaS enables customers to securely connect, enrol, and manage Axis devices in a diversity of deployment options, including direct device-to-cloud streaming of video, metadata, and access control data.

Together, both ACC and Axis Powered by Genetec offer users a complete enterprise-grade deployment of network access control and video technologies designed to work seamlessly across hybrid and cloud environments, as well as in fully on-premises deployments. Easily installed and maintained, these Axis devices enable Security Center SaaS customers to deploy a unified cloud-ready installation quickly and reliably.

Security Centre SaaS is offered in two subscription plans - standard and premium, with pricing of $US 149 or $US 199 per device connection per year. Each device connection can be a door controller, camera, intercom, intrusion panel, or other physical security object. You can simply mix and match your devices, with a flat annual fee per year per device, giving all the features of Security Centre SaaS.

The standard subscription includes unified video and access control, built-in cybersecurity and privacy, apps for web and mobile and desktop, event management and automation, video forensic searches, federation support, cardholder synchronisation, video management, occupation, mustering, standard phone support, and 24/7 support.

The premium subscription adds access requests and access reviews, single sign-on, and a REST API.

The new offering is also available in competitively priced video bundles, including software and camera connections, starting at $US 2,700. These include the option of either 8 or 20 camera connections (with 8 and 20 TB of storage, respectively), the Security Centre SaaS software, and the Genetec Cloudlink 310 appliance that allows any non-cloud-ready camera to be easily connected to Security Centre SaaS.

Security Centre SaaS is available for quoting and ordering right now in all regions, and will be available as of 30th May 2024.
